Why a calendar, and not a chart

• Every thank-you counts the same.A square gets darker with the number of thank-yous burned that day, never the amount. A large burn and a small one are one square each. That is the whole point: money is not the unit here.
• You cannot buy a day back.A price chart can be moved with money in an afternoon. A row of days cannot. The only way to fill a square is for somebody to have actually thanked somebody, in a real place, on that date.
• Every square is checkable.The counts come from Burned and VoluntaryBurn events on the burn router on Optimism. Anyone can re-read the same logs and get the same grid.
• Blank days stay blank.Quiet days are drawn as quiet. Nothing is smoothed, filled in, or rounded up.
